TaxCalc Accounts Production Update – Part 1

It’s our absolute pleasure to announce the roll out of a substantial update to TaxCalc Accounts Production. Many months in the making, this release will introduce new small company accounting standards, such as micro entities, FRSSE 2015 and FRS102 for small companies and a number of improvements in other areas.

TaxCalc customers will know we love listening to customer feedback. We’ve never been afraid of making changes and tweaks to the software and even, in some cases, rewriting the way something is done to make it even better.

In this first of two blog articles, we’ll take a look at what’s in store.

Interactive report editing

In the case of Accounts Production, we’ve focused a good chunk of our attention on the way that reports are generated to make editing of the end result interactive.

Once generated, you’ll find that the reports have two modes: Preview Mode and Edit Mode. When in Edit Mode, many text elements in the accounts will gain a dotted border, which, when clicked on will call up an in-line editor.

We’ve added additional buttons to conveniently bring forward notes and open up the Edit Notes window. You can also open the Edit Notes window on any given note in question by clicking on the page icon that appears to the left of a clickable area.

New possibilities with notes

One of the features most commonly requested by customers is the ability to better style the content of notes and disclosures. We’ve therefore added a number of rich text options, such as bold, italic, underline, different alignments and bulleted and numbered lists.

But that’s not all. We’ve also changed the way that tokens are displayed to you, making them more obvious in the body of the note. At the same time, you will be able to insert more tokens into notes and, when you do, TaxCalc will provide on-the-spot help so you can understand what each will do.

Behind the scenes, a selection of template notes, the full charts of accounts and many labels used in the production of a set of accounts are all editable on a system level.
